My first time in Las Vegas was quite the experience – I only bedded down for a single evening.

When dawn arrived, it was time to settle my tab: $250, plus extra for amenities I didn’t even glance at.

When I queried the clerk about these mysterious ‘resort fees,’ she explained they covered the luxury of pool access and Wi-Fi, both of which I hadn’t touched.

I nodded, took out my checkbook, and scribbled a payment of $50.

Handing it over, the clerk was perplexed, “This is only $50, sir.”

“Exactly,” I replied with a grin. “I’m charging you $200 for the pleasure of my company last night.”

Her eyes widened, “But that never happened!”

To which I quipped,

“Ah, but I was here, ready and available!”
