A businessman had just landed in a different city for a conference and decided to check in with his family. He dials his home number and is greeted by a small voice.
“Hello?”
“Hey, sweetheart, it’s Dad. Is Mommy close to the phone?” the father inquires.
“No, Daddy. She’s in the bedroom with Uncle Frank.”
A moment of silence ensues before Dad responds, “But, pumpkin, you don’t have an Uncle Frank.”
“Well, he’s upstairs with Mommy right now,” the child insists.
The father takes a moment to digest this information, then carefully instructs, “Okay, do this for Daddy. Put the phone down, run up to Mommy’s room, and yell to her that Dad’s just pulled into the driveway.”
Not long after, the little girl returns to the phone. “I did what you said, Daddy!”
“And what happened?” Dad’s voice trembles.
“It was crazy! Mommy screamed, leapt out of bed with nothing on, and started running all over the house in a panic. She slipped on the hallway rug, smacked her head on the door frame and now she’s not moving at all!” the girl explains.
Appalled, Dad asks, “Oh no! What about Uncle Frank?”
“He popped out of bed naked too, looking really scared. He dashed for the back door, leapt right into the big pool, but he must’ve forgotten you emptied it last weekend to clean it. He smacked into the bottom, and he’s not moving either.”
A deathly silence hangs on the line.
Finally, Dad says, “Pool? Wait a minute… Is this 852-7039?”
